Does the Facebook Donation platform link to my Water Challenge page?

add remove

Short answer: No.

Social media is a fantastic way to let your friends and family know you are taking the Water Challenge and how they can donate! Always include the link to your fundraising page (sent to you when you signed up for the Challenge) or the Water Challenge website to your posts to make sure your donations are all in the one spot. It means you can keep track of your progress and who has donated.

We do not recommend using the Facebook donation platform, as we are unable to link donations back to your fundraising page. Donations made through Facebook’s PayPal Giving Fund are deposited to charities on a monthly basis and without any information about the person who made the donation or the fundraiser unless they opt in to sharing their information.

My friends and family have already donated via Facebook’s donation platform- what do I do now?

Donations made through Facebook’s PayPal Giving Fund are deposited to charities on a monthly basis and without any information about the person who made the donation or the fundraiser unless they opt in to sharing their information.

If you send us an email with a screenshot of the donation details, we can add the donation to your page at the end of the month when we receive the funds from Facebook. Please be patient as it is a manual process for us to match anonymous donations with Water Challenge participants!

It is likely that the donation was made through WaterAid’s general fundraising page, rather than your specific fundraising page. Drop us a line at water.challenge@wateraid.org.au with the donor’s name and a link to your fundraising page, and we’ll update your page for you.
