The Water Challenge

In March, I will only be drinking water to help bring clean water to those in need.

Billions of people worldwide still live without safely managed drinking-water, sanitation and hygiene services.

1 in 3 people worldwide still lack basic handwashing facilities with soap and water at home, leaving them especially vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus.

That's why, for the 3rd year, I am challenging myself to make water my only drink for 31 days, with a goal to fundraise 10 dollars per day towards WaterAid and progress toward SDG6 (clean water and sanitation for all).

WaterAid will reach everyone, everywhere with clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene within a generation. This vision inspires me, and I hope it inspires you too. Please donate a few $$ to my fundraising page to contribute to WaterAid's amazing work.

In addition to water stress, countries and territories are facing growing challenges linked to water pollution, degraded water-related ecosystems, water scarcity caused by climate change, and a lack of cooperation on transboundary waters.

Between 1970 and 2015, the total area of inland and marine or coastal wetlands declined by approximately 35% - 3 times the rate of forest loss. Existing efforts to protect and restore water-related ecosystems must be scaled up and accelerated urgently.

The Water Challenge means no coffee or tea, bye bye beers and wine and adios to anything but water for 31 days.
