Why I’m Walking for Water this October
My son has grown up never questioning that safe water flows from every tap at home, a privilege my family and I are deeply grateful for.
Yet in Bangladesh, where my roots lie, it is a painful irony: a country shaped by three mighty rivers, monsoons, and vast coastlines, yet millions still lack safe drinking water. My dad’s mission for social impact and sustainability has shown me how real this is, real families and communities face floods, saltwater intrusion, and arsenic contamination, leaving them water logged yet thirsty.
Globally, 703 million people still live without safe water. Women and children walk hours each day for water that is often unsafe, costing them health, education, and opportunity.
That is why I am walking for water, so others don’t have to. Over five days, our Yarra Valley Water team will be raising funds to bring clean water to families in countries that need it most. Even $50 can equip a rural community.
