Why's $785 the goal this year?
John 4:14 quotes Jesus as saying "but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
Unfortunately, 785 million people (WHO) don't get basic drinking water.
WaterAid Australia has been working on this problem for over 17 years, and it blows my mind that in our 21st century world, we can't get clean water to our brothers and sisters.
Last year, I lasted my first water challenge - giving up drinking anything but water for the month of March. It wasn't easy (you know I like those Dirty Chais!) but we got to $410 in donations.
This year, I'm going for a goal of $785 to represent the 785 million without access to clean drinking water. For just $70, WaterAid could provide clean water to a child, while $350 could help provide clean water to a family.
