This year, we're taking part in Winnovators, WaterAid’s employee development program. We'll be competing to solve a real-world problem while learning new skills; thinking outside the box to invent life-changing ideas, and transforming people's futures by fundraising for clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene.

Sanitation and Hygiene in PNG

PNG is one of only 10 countries globally where 20% of the population has access to just a basic standard of sanitation (WHO/UNICEF, 2023).

Approximately 76% of the population uses unimproved sanitation or practices open defecation. Climate-related crises exacerbate the risk of contamination of water and food sources from human waste and the spread of waterborne diseases, such as cholera (WHO/UNICEF, 2023).
