What is Walk for Water?

We are challenging you to walk, run or ride for five days from 2 - 6 October 2023 to raise funds to support WaterAid Australia.

When and Where is Walk for Water?

Walk for Water is a virtual event running from 2 - 6 October 2023. You can choose to do this at any time of the day. If necessary, you can take part in Walk for Water from your very own home.

What do I have to do?

Wherever you live, whatever your fitness level, you chose the place and pace to complete your Walk for Water.  Walk, Run, Ride or all three for five days.

How do I get a fundraising page?

When you register for Walk for Water, your fundraising page is automatically created. With that page you can keep track of your activity, team and your funds raised.

How much does it cost to register?

How do I create or join a team?

Anyone can create a team for Walk for Water when registering as a participant. After you fill in your personal details, you have a choice to create your own team or join a team.

When you create a team, you will be automatically designated Team Captain. As Team Captain, you can invite others to join your team. You have the option to show your team as 'open to public', meaning anyone can join your team or 'private', meaning only invited people can join your team. 

To join a public team simply click on the "Join Us" button on the teams fundraising page. If a team is set to 'private' usually the team captain will send out an invitation to join that team or you will need to ask the team captain to send you an invite.

How many people can join my team?

There are no limits. You can do this challenge on your own or invite as many friends, family or work colleagues you like. Together you will work towards your overall team goal and target. Each of you will manage your own personal fundraising account, where you can track your distance and fundraising, but everyone’s tally will be added up and combined on your team page.

If you have a company list that you would like to add to your team please email corporate.events@wateraid.org.au and we can assist you with this.

Is fundraising compulsory?

No, Walk for Water is a personal challenge and you set your own goal and target. However,  your fundraising efforts go straight to WaterAid and help support communities in Cambodia, Timor-Leste and Papua New Guinea access clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene.

Where do my donations go?

The donations you have raised through the Walk for Water go straight to WaterAid Australia and help support communities in Cambodia, Timor-Leste and Papua New Guinea access clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene.

How do I log my activity?

To log your progress, simply login to your online fundraising page and head to the ‘My Fitness Activity’ and follow the prompts to record your activity manually.

How do I find someone’s fundraising page?

Just click here and enter the name of the individual or team taking part, and hey presto!

What happens if I don’t reach my goal?

Raising money may be a daunting task but that’s why we are here. We will help you with your challenge and provide support to achieve your goals, but we do understand that it is not always possible. Check out our Ways to fundraise page for ideas to get you started.

Even if you don’t reach your fundraising goal, we appreciate the efforts you have put on it. Every dollar counts. Your fundraising efforts will still become a part of the collective efforts helping people around the world to access clean water for the first time.

How do I reset my password?

To reset your password, click the Forgot Password link on the login screen and follow the prompts.

If you are still unable to log in then contact us via email at corporate.events@wateraid.org.au or call 1300 858 022 and we can reset your password for you

Are donations tax-deductible?

All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible for Australian tax payers. If the donor receives something material in return for their money, such as a raffle ticket, a ticket for a movie, a dinner or auction item, these contributions are not tax deductible.
