Walking for Water, Running for a Better Future

Water is something many of us use every day without giving it a second thought. We turn on the tap, have a shower, make a coffee, or go for a swim — and we expect clean, safe water to be there.
But working in water treatment has taught me that clean water doesn’t happen by accident.
After more than four years working as an Environmental Engineer in water treatment, I’ve had the opportunity to see first-hand how important it is to protect our waterways and the ecosystems that depend on them. From treating groundwater and stormwater to monitoring water quality and ensuring treated water meets environmental requirements, my work has shown me that every litre matters.
That’s why I’m so excited to take part in Walk for Water — although, in my case, I’ll be running for water!
For me, this event is more than just getting active. It’s a chance to bring people together around something that affects every single one of us: water.
Australia is home to some of the most incredible rivers, wetlands, beaches and aquatic ecosystems in the world. As an Environmental Engineer, I’ve spent years helping to protect these environments through water treatment and environmental management. But protecting our water is not only the responsibility of engineers, scientists or water professionals. It’s something we can all contribute to.
Every step — or every kilometre — is a reminder that our actions can make a difference.
I’m looking forward to running alongside people who care about our environment, our communities and the future of water in Australia. I hope this event can also inspire more people to learn about where our water comes from, where it goes, and what we can do to protect it.
So, whether you walk, run, jog, stroll or simply come along to support the cause, I’d love to see you there!
Let’s get moving, have some fun and raise awareness for something we simply cannot live without.
I’ll be running for water. Will you join me?

Why I'm walking, running & riding for water this October!
696 million people in the world – almost one in ten – do not have clean water close to home. Every day, women and children walk long distances to collect and carry water for their families. Girls and boys often begin collecting water as children and girls continue to collect and carry water throughout their lives. Many girls spend hours each day collecting water, which can cause them to miss time at school. And not only that, sometimes the water they are forced to collect is dirty, carrying water borne diseases and leading to sickness in their community.
This is why we need your help – we are asking you to walk for water, so that they don’t have to.
By walking, running or riding for five days, you can raise awareness and funds so people around the world can access clean water for the first time.
Please donate to my fundraising page to contribute to WaterAid's amazing work. For just $50, WaterAid could buy water system tools to provide a rural community with clean water.
The more people that know about WaterAid, the more we can achieve together.
Please spread the word by sharing my fundraising page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
