Day Four of Walk for Water!

I didn't get much walking in today since I was working from home and had the luxury of only needing to walk a few steps to my kitchen to get a glass of water to keep hydrated during the day.
Not only did I not have to walk far I also had the luxury of knowing I could safely drink the water straight out of the tap without boiling or filtering it.
Across the world one in 10 people don't have even a basic supply of clean water close to home.
WaterAid works with the poorest and most marginalised communities to set up practical and sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene projects that meet their real needs.
Please donate to help them continue their work.

Day Three of Walk for Water!

The AWA team hit the streets of Chatswood today to walk for water with an enjoyable stop along the way.

All for a good cause ;-)

Day Two of Walk for Water!

I squeezed in a walk before breakfast this morning barefoot along one of our beautiful city beaches.

Many city beaches in poorer parts of the world are heavily polluted by sewage particularly after rain due to inadequate wastewater systems. In some countries open defecation occurs on beaches due to a lack of decent public and domestic toilets and hygiene education.

Wateraid works with local partners to help communities access clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene. Please donate to help them deliver their programs.

Day One of Walk for Water!

My first day walking to raise awareness and money for Wateraid I skipped the bus and walked that section of my commute home. It took me a bit longer to get there but gave me time to unwind after a day in the office and also made me thankful that all I was carrying was my laptop and handbag.
The mainly women and children who have to collect water for their families in many other parts of the world often carry incredibly heavy buckets and containers of water much longer distances.
Wateraid enables communities around the world to access clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene, allowing them to unlock their potential.

Why I'm walking, running & riding for water this October!

703 million people in the world – almost one in ten – do not have clean water close to home. Every day, women and children walk long distances to collect and carry water for their families. Girls and boys often begin collecting water as children and girls continue to collect and carry water throughout their lives. Many girls spend hours each day collecting water, which can cause them to miss time at school. And not only that, sometimes the water they are forced to collect is dirty, carrying water borne diseases and leading to sickness in their community.

This is why we need your help – we are asking you to walk for water, so that they don’t have to.

By walking, running or riding for five days, you can raise awareness and funds so people around the world can access clean water for the first time.

Please donate to my fundraising page to contribute to WaterAid's amazing work. For just $50, WaterAid could buy water system tools to provide a rural community with clean water.

The more people that know about WaterAid, the more we can achieve together.

Please spread the word by sharing my fundraising page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
